Gay Bashing in NYC
After our show with the Raconteurs in New York I decided to go to see my friend DJ. My friend happens to be homo sexual, and he was DJing at a gay bar. After a drink or two I decided to go outside and have a cigarette. After a couple of puffs I felt a strange sensation on my leg, then I heard somebody scream "faggot". I looked down and my legs and shoes were covered in egg goo, and there were a dozen or so more hanging in the air above my head. I have been called a faggot many times, but I think this was my first official "hate crime" little did those dudes know that they didn't even get a gay man. I dig chicks.

i went to the raconteurs show tonight hoping that you guys would be performing. . . but after the sadies went on the raconteurs took the stage about 30 mins or so after.
i asked one of the guys that worked there if black lips were performing, he said no, i asked why the fuck not - he said cuz the drummer got caught with drugs crossing the border - i asked a couple people in the crowd; they said the same shit.
on eye weekly or now magazine it said "june 5th @ kool haus - raconteurs w/ the sadies and black lips" or something like that; but it definitely announced your presence on the show.
i hate it that you guys can't come down here, and if you can then what the hell is the fucking deal.
fuck the goddamn borders.
if you won't be able to make it for a certain while then i hope y'all havin' the greatest times of your lives; livin' it up night 'n day, i'm sure it ain't no lie.
They can't even bash real homos. Their Gaydar was obviously not functioning properly,shame.

Also, where was Cole when this happened? That sounds like something he would do.
...And V... I'm not sure about Joe getting busted with drugs. It's a possibility, but Jared is the one I know of with problems crossing the border. In fact, he blogged about it months ago (which may not have helped matters). When he was a teenager he got busted for drunk driving and he said that prevents him from going into Canada. He used to sneak in without the rest of the band, but I don't think they've played Canada for nine months, so something happened or changed. They may have still been advertised in some places as playing the Montreal and Toronto shows, but the bands knew in advance the Lips weren't playing. The Lips had other shows booked in Brooklyn and Buffalo on Thursday and Friday nights.

Wow 'V' i had tickets to that show and everything and I bought them solely to see the black lips.... i had some cautions tho after not seeing their name along with the raconteurs in some magazines and websites.... in the end i refunded the ticket money for the changed venue cuz i was broke as shit but i still was seriously heart breakingly regretting missing the lips. Too bad tho, I wonder what the deal is with the borders. I mean it's just the Canadian border ... I'll smuggle you guys in trust, i do it all the time

all in all a good show though.
You should def try and sneak the boys in hahaha; apparently they don't really wanna tour so much but concentrate on just recording which is cool.
I saw them once in Toronto for the first time before I even knew who the hell they were; it was a free show at Criminal Records in '07.
I just hope they come to Canada again sometime.
